Created:

A collection of keyboards that I have at my disposal, including information on all the accessories like keycaps, switches and cables.

For some time now, I’ve been fascinated by keyboards. I really enjoy using them in my work, but I also really appreciate the community that has grown up around this fantastic peripheral. Today, there’s a whole universe around this tool, whatever the sizes, profiles, colors, materials and I’m not even talking about keycaps and switches.

DYGMA Raise v1

Dygma Raise v1 - Backlight

My main keyboard is a custom version of the classic DYGMA Raise v1, which I use every day for coding, 3D, video games and more.

By default, the switches I had for this keyboard were unlubricated Kailh Silent Brown, which I eventually replaced with Gateron Azure Dragon V3 lubricated with GPL 105 205 for better sound quality and ease of use.

As for keycaps, I wanted to avoid continuing with keycaps made of ABS, although the one on the DYGMA Raise v1 is of excellent quality. I wanted to turn to more original keycaps offering a better rendering for my keyboard. After a lot of research and a bit of luck, I came across the MVKB Clear Scanner which I really liked for their style. I really enjoy using these keycaps, although I’d like to find a similar blanked version (no characters or green lines).

Dygma Raise v1 - Tenting Kit

Several months after buying the keyboard, I bought the official tenting kit from Dygma which offers me added comfort of use, and I also really appreciate that most people who see my keyboard now compare it to an alien object.

To improve it and make it even more unique each time, I also took the keyboard apart to add a Sound Dampening Foam and have the keyboard mod tapped.

Software-wise, I use this keyboard with its default software called Bazecor. The software is very convenient and allowed me to make the necessary modifications, notably to have several key profiles where I remapped hjkl for directional arrows. The software also enabled me to remap the most useless key in the world (yes, I’m talking about the Caps Lock key) with the Ctrl key for a long press and Esc for a short press.

INFO: These changes are directly inspired by the layout of the vim text editor.

In conclusion, I’d like to say that this keyboard has great sentimental value for me, as it was not only my first split keyboard, but also my first step into the world of professional mechanical keyboards.
